FREESTYLE SCOOTER SELECTION GUIDE
A video where you will learn everything important
1. Classification by rider's height
For easier navigation, we offer scooters categorized by rider's height in our e-shop catalog.
Recommended height of the freestyle scooter by rider's height
| Rider's height | Recommended handlebar height* |
|---|---|
| up to 120 cm | 40 – 45 cm |
| 120 – 135 cm | 45 – 50 cm |
| 135 – 150 cm | 50 – 56 cm |
| 150 – 160 cm | 56 – 60 cm |
| 160 – 170 cm | 60 – 63 cm |
| 170 – 180 cm | 63 – 67 cm |
| over 180 cm | 67 cm and more |
* Measured from the top of the deck to the top of the handlebars, which is the exact measurement of the handlebars. To get the total height of the scooter from the ground, add about 24 cm.
👉 This is a guideline recommendation – it always depends on the riding style and personal preferences of the rider.
2. Build quality and price categories
| Category | Price | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | 1,000-3,000 Kč (40-120 EUR) | Heavier construction, steel components |
| Intermediate | 3,000-5,000 Kč (120-200 EUR) | Combination of durability and lightweight |
| Professional | from 5,000 Kč (over 200 EUR) | Lightest and most durable parts |
💡 Recommendation: Investing in a higher-quality scooter pays off - riders are happier and the scooter lasts longer.
3. Key parameters for selection
Main criteria:
-
Height and width of handlebars
-
Handlebar height is determined by the rider's height
-
Height can be adjusted by shortening or replacing handlebars with taller ones
-
...
-
Ideal width: 48-55 cm (can be further widened or narrowed by cutting) - wider = more stable ride
-
Deck
-
Length: 39-61 cm (depending on shoe size and riding style)
-
Width: 10-18 cm (wider = more comfortable, but heavier)
-
Shape for Park or Street style (we recommend a park deck with a beveled end for beginners)
-
-
Wheels
-
Beginners: 100 mm (low price)
-
Advanced: 110-125 mm (we recommend 110 mm)
-
Additional parameters:
-
Fork: Steel (cheap, heavy) vs. aluminum (light)
-
Brake: Flex plastic (for easy braking), Flex steel (more durable but requires more force to brake) or Fender (doesn't brake, just protects the wheel)
-
Compression system: IHC (standard), HIC (pro), SCS (street style, higher weight), THREAD (low price, difficult to adjust)
-
Bearings: ABEC rating is not everything - construction is important
- Headset: Non-integrated with Basic bearings will often loosen and won't adjust perfectly, bars will turn less smoothly. We recommend Integrated with pro bearings.
