Description

Kendama is a traditional Japanese toy that has spread to much of the world in recent years. People of all ages can play with kendama. The kendama consists of a body (ken) and a ball (tama) connected by a sturdy nylon string. The body is made up of three wooden cups (zara) placed on a wooden spike (saki). During play you try to catch the ball in one of the cups, on the spike, or to land them together in various ways — of which there are over 30,000. Kendama is a very fun toy that you can learn to play with very quickly and that strengthens motor skills, coordination, reflexes, balance, concentration and more. This toy stands out among many of today’s board and electronic games — kendama does not require batteries! Kendama has become a sport and competitive discipline not only in Japan but also here in the Czech Republic.
