Kendama is a traditional Japanese toy that has spread to much of the world in recent years. People of all ages can play with Kendama. The kendama consists of a body (ken) and a ball (tama) connected by a strong nylon string. The body is made up of three wooden cups (zara) placed on a wooden spike (saki). During play you try to catch the ball in one of the cups, land it on the spike, or perch and combine them in various ways — there are over 30,000 possible tricks.
