Kendama is a traditional Japanese toy that has spread to most of the world in recent years. People of all generations can play with Kendama. The Kendama consists of a body (ken) and a ball (tama) connected by a sturdy nylon string. The body features three wooden cups (zara) placed on a wooden spike (saki). During play, you try to catch the ball in one of the cups, on the spike, or variously balance it in different ways, of which there are over 30,000. Kendama is a very fun toy that you can learn to play very quickly, and it strengthens motor skills, coordination, reflexes, balance, concentration, and more; this toy stands out above many of today's tabletop and electronic games, as Kendama does not require batteries! Kendama is becoming a sport and competitive discipline not only in Japan but also already in the Czech Republic.
